Colorado Youth for a Change Has Partnered with The Post News Colorado Colfax Marathon

We want to have 100 runners raising a minimum of $250 each, so that CYC will raise at least $20K for the event.  There is a minimum of raising or giving $250 per runner if running individually, and $200 if running within a relay team.  Race registration and registration fees are the sole responsibility of the runners.  CYC will be available to help with the organization of relay teams if needed.  We encourage runners to ACT EARLY and register now, call to join the CYC Marathon team today, and get all proceeds in to CYC by May 1st.

We will accept runners participating in any part of the Colfax Marathon, including the full marathon, half marathon or relay teams.  Each runner will be asked to donate or raise $250 for CYC (runners pay for their own registration fees).  CYC encourages the participation of relay teams, and will help with the organization of these teams (team members will be asked to donate or raise $200 per person).

Race T-shirt and Race Day Celebration!  Each runner will receive a one-of-a-kind CYC race t-shirt for being a partner with us on the marathon.  On race day, we will also have a CYC tent for the runners, including before and after race events, with water, drinks, food, music and celebration of our joint success. We will have staff and students present so that you can learn more about our work.

What We Are Doing

  • Coming Together - Youth come together to organize their energy and resources toward returning to school.
  • Changing Our Mindsets - Youth participate in life-changing activities, such as tutoring younger youth, presenting at educational conferences, and taking college classes in order to to see themselves and their education from a different perspective.
  • Speaking Up for Ourselves - Building upon the knowledge gained through school experience, youth learn to be their own best advocates and how to get the most out of their education.
  • Returning to School - Youth do research, interview students and teachers, and investigate school programs to make informed choices upon returning to school.
  • Succeeding in School - Youth engage in academic catch-up activities, mentoring, homework labs, and support groups to increase their success in school.
  • Reaching out and Inspiring Others to Return to School - Youth returning to school reach out to out-of-school youth in their neighborhoods to inspire them to return to school.
