Dropout Outreach and Recovery

After a few months of experiencing life as a dropout, many youth realize through a lack of connection and a lack of opportunity that they’ve made a mistake. CYC started one of the first programs in the U.S. to actively track these youth down in a systematic way and give them a second chance through education.

This unique program re-engages hundreds of youth annually who have dropped out and helps with the following: assessment of motivation to return to school; elimination of barriers to educational engagement; assessment of appropriate school fit; and enrollment. Staff members continue to support youth for an entire year after re-enrollment to promote accountability and in-school advocacy. CYC is one of the only agencies providing these services in the Denver area and re-enrolled over 500 high school dropouts last year.
